History

1971 Project P.A.W. incorporates as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charity.  In the past, the local solution to the problem of stray cats and kittens was euthanasia in carbon monoxide chambers.
1972  A group of concerned women begins fundraising efforts, including bake sales, garage sales, and flea markets.  They begin sheltering the animals in their homes, and placing them with adoptive families.
1976 Project P.A.W. member Janet Ainey purchases and donates the current shelter building at 127 Bevier Street.  The building was previously a paint warehouse.  Project P.A.W. and a group of concerned veterinarians create the first low-cost spay/neuter program in the Greater Binghamton area.
2003 Longtime Project P.A.W. Director Donna Kocan passes away unexpectedly.
2005 Project P.A.W. Web site is launched.

This Web site is dedicated to the memory of Donna Kocan.
